Join the Cairns Hockey Board, at Cairns Hockey with team mates, family and friends to celebrate the 2019 Hockey season. Good Food Good Music and a cash bar available – everything you need for great afternoon recognizing and celebrating achievements of our members, It is a time to offer thanks to all our wonderful volunteers – our coaches/managers/umpires/officials/players and all those behind the scene that give their time freely so everyone in hockey can enjoy the sport – locally, regionally, state and nationally. Cairns Hockey will provide some great gourmet snacks – cash bar is available and sit back and enjoy the afternoon before finals week begin.

Playing Indoor Hockey in 2019 – Individual Registrations and Team Nominations re now open. Competition begins 14th October 2019 but interest is high so register now and avoid disappointment. The season is a 9 week season and we are aiming for A and B Grade Men’s competition, A and B Grade women’s competition and junior programs that combine skill development with healthy competition. All player registrations must be completed and received and payment of $125 or $100 is received before 10th October 2019. More information on representative programs will follow.

Being part of a community means being a part of something greater than you. It’s about sharing, growing and opening up to who you are and what you believe in. Cairns Hockey community has just cause to celebrate the wonderful contributions of their members and friends. From assisting behind the scenes in club land, to taking on a leadership role, being a coach, a manager and/or an officials, being a team mate that has a kind word, helping your friends or another hockey colleague, everywhere you look we have good people contributing to make our part of the world more positive, enjoyable and fun. This is an opportunity to acknowledge some of these contributions.

As finals are approaching and the competition becomes more intense, our expectation is that our members play fair and be of good behaviour and respect each other on and off the field. There has been examples recently of the standard of behaviour failing to reach an acceptable level and it is timely to share a friendly reminder to all members and supporters to act reasonably and respectfully when playing and supporting their team. We want to have a great lead into and final series in 2019 and provide an enjoyable environment for all. We hope you all will join us in this endeavour. Good luck and Good Hockey to all

As we head towards finals for 2019, it should be reminded that Cairns Hockey is trying to plan and discuss 2020 competition. Competitions Committee has been working hard to identify key important factors and put together some ideas for consideration but its your competition, so why not help us and provide some comment on what 2020 might look like. Cairns Hockey has shared this with clubs but we also want your opinion.

It’s semi final Tuesday for Cairns Gold 5.15pm on Rainforest Turf against Toowoomba. Lets get to the hockey centre to support our team.

Every where you look across the Cairns region, the many shades of green, blue and gold are seen reflecting the Reef and Rainforest that surround us. It was a very easy choice to name the Cairns Hockey Turfs – Reef and Rainforest. The Reef Turf is closest to the Reef and the Rainforest Turf is closest to the Rainforest. No-where in the world is there 2 World Heritage listed areas next to each other – and no where else in the world are these World Heritage listed areas aligned with an indigenous culture that can trace ancestors back 65,000 years. We are truly blessed and that is why Cairns Hockey has chosen to align its branding with the Reef and the Rainforest. As we host the Qld State Under 13 Girls Championships we welcome our friends to the Reef and the Rainforest Turfs. We are preparing to host the Queensland Under 13 Girls State Hockey Championships 7th -10th July 2019 and before the championships begin, we thought we would share some information we hope will be helpful to our visitors. Cairns Hockey is looking forward to welcoming our 350 plus players, 100 plus officials and lots of family and friends. We welcome you to the home of the Reef and Rainforest – 2 World Heritage destinations side by side. Our hockey and our facility reflect this and we hope you enjoy what Far North Queensland can offer.
