Dear all members,
Thank you to everyone’s patience as we prepared to get the season up and running again. As everyone is aware of a few changes were made to the competition to ensure we fit the rest of the season into the short timeframe, one of the changes being the exclusion of week 14. Please make sure you are aware off the amendments and how they would affect you:
Competition rules will be implemented as normal with amendments made to the following:

- Week 14 of the competition will be removed, except U14B girls, P56 boys, P56 girls and master’s men (all teams with uneven divisions and include byes)a. All points awarded from completed games in week 14 will be removed from:
▪ Points ladder
▪ Player of the year award points
▪ Penalty points received through cards awarded in the gamesb. The uncompleted games of week 14 will not be scheduledc.Finals positions will be determined from the ladder as per rule 13.b.ii
2. Preliminary finals
a. Rule 13.b.ii will be used to determine all finals in all divisions and amended to:
- “In all competitions, first place at the end of the regular season goes directly into the grand final, the second and third placed teams play off in a semi-final with the winner going into the grand final.”
b. Therefore, Rule 13.b.i will not be applicable for 2021.
3. In the event of drawn games during finals and grand finals
- Rule 13.c will apply as normal
- Rule 13.d will apply as normal
- Rule 13.e will apply as normal
4. Eligibility to play finals
- Rule 13.g will be implemented as normal with an amendment to rule 13.g.ii
▪ “A player who has played six (6) games in that grade by the end of the regulation round season or a date set by the Cairns Hockey, in the grades they have participated in, is eligible to play in finals in those grades only”
- Rule 13.g.ii will be amended to
▪ “A player who has played five (5) games in that grade by the end of the regulation round season or a date set by the Cairns Hockey, in the grades they have participated in, is eligible to play in finals in those grades only”
